HCET hosts FASD workshop in Johannesburg

On 13 to 15 June, the HCET hosted a workshop on FASD at the MAMAS Alliance headquarters in Johannesburg. It was attended by representatives of NGOs in the Gauteng area. It was very well received, and delegates were once again educated, encouraged and empowered to take the message of the dangers of alcohol consumption by pregnant mothers out to their communities. It again became clear that knowledge of FASD is sorely lacking, and that this message has to be spread urgently. Delegates finished the workshop by making their own versions of ‘Suzie Dop’ – the HCET’s kinetic model which demonstrates how alcohol affects the unborn foetus.
